Zelda Twilight Princess Walkthrough Twilight Faron Woods

3.1 Meet Faron: Spirit of Light

After you have entered the Twilight Realm, Midna will let you know that you cannot use the sword and shield yet so she will just store them for you. The goal of this part of the Zelda Twilight Princess Walkthrough is to return the light to Ordona.

At this point the only way you can head is straight into the woods. As you proceed to do so a wall of twilight will appear and surround Link. Three shadow beasts will then drop in for a visit.

Now the thing that you must know about these shadow beasts is that you cannot leave one alive or it will revive its fallen partners. You will see that after you take out 2 of the 3 monsters here. After doing so the last one standing will scream and bring the other 2 back alive. At this point Midna will let you know that you must hold B to create an area to target all 3 at once.

So hold B and once you have all 3 selected released the button to take down all 3 in one swift move. After they are defeated the wall will go away so you can continue onward.

As you head north you will eventually enter an area with a waterfall. This is the Faron Spring. As you approach this area you will see a glowing orb in the waterfall. This glowing shape is Faron.

As you talk with Faron she will give you some more information about the Twilight Realm and then hand over a Vessel of Light. This vessel will be used for Link to collect 16 Tears of Light. Once collecting all 16 tears into the vessel the area will be returned to normal and be free from the twilight.

To collect the Tears of Light Link must use his animal senses to detect dark bugs that hold the tears. After defeating these bugs the tears will fall out and float down to the ground. All 16 insects will appear on your map as white dots.

3.2 Faron Tears of Light

Head North a bit until you get near the first shadow insect. Use your animal senses to see it and then attack when it is not charging with electricity. Once it dies a tear of light will appear. Just walk over it to collect the tear into the vessel.

The second insect is literally right there next to the first one so just kill it and collect your second tear of light.

Continue heading north from here past the Shadow Babas until you reach a fork in the path. You should see a couple more insects here but they will run past the gate on the right. So for now just head to the left towards the lantern shop.

Head to the northern side of the house and use your senses to see an insect on the wall. Dash against the wall and it will fall off and onto the ground. Defeat him for your third tear of light.

Now head to the southern side of the house where you will see a high up ledge with an open window. Use Midna to jump into the window and enter the house. Inside the house, jump down and use your senses to talk to Coro. After talking to him 2 more insects will scurry out into the open. Defeat both of them to get the 4th and 5th tear of light. Now exit back out of the house.

Now run back to the locked gate we saw earlier. By using your senses you will notice an area on the side where you can dig. Do so and Link will dig his way under the gate to the other side. Right there on the other side are 2 insects. Defeat them both for the 6th and 7th tears. Now head north into the cave and just head all the way through and out of the cave.

Now that you are on the northern part outside of the cave, you should notice that there is a thick purple fog covering the ground here. This fog will deal damage to Link upon contact so stay away as much as possible.

However, on the left side of the river you should be able to detect 2 more insects. Take them out to get the 8th and 9th tear.

Further left of this area is a spot where Midna will help you jump over to a tree limb. Follow her for a total of 4 jumps to get to a safe zone. Head up to the highest spot of this area and you can jump for another 2 hops. Use your senses here to get 3 more insects. This will take you through the 12th.

Now head to the right to find more areas where Link can jump across with the help of Midna. You should eventually land on a large tree stump. Keep jumping further until you reach a branch that is swinging. Just time your jump to make it past the branch and follow Midna until you reach the ground.

The next 2 insects you come across will be buried underground. So use your senses and dig them up. After defeating them you will have the 13th and 14th tear of light. Now head east through an open gate.

In this area you will find 3 more shadow beats. Just target all 3 at once to take them all out and then continue heading north.

When you reach the end of the path you can use your senses to spot a scared monkey. Defeat the last 2 insects to get the 15th and 16th tear of light. Upon collecting the last one you will be returned to the spring.

3.3 Get the Key and a Bottle

Now that the Vessel of Light is filled with all of the tears the light will return to the region. Faron will now reveal her true form and talk about how Link is the chosen one. He will also return to his human form and will suddenly be wearing Link’s famous green garb. He then tells you that you must stop the evil hiding in the forest temple.

Now that we are back in human form Link will have the sword and shield equipped. With this all set up we are going to go get ourselves a nice prize.

Run back across the bridge and enter Link’s house. If you go down to the basement there will be a treasure chest. Use your Lantern to light up the room and open it to get yourself a purple Rupee. Once you have your 50 Rupees go ahead and exit the house.

Now return to the Faron Woods. and return to Coro, the lantern shop owner. Chat with him to get a small key that will open the gate towards the temple.

You can also buy a bottle from Coro now. Purchase a thing of lantern oil to get your second bottle. The bottle of lantern oil goes for 100 Rupees so make sure you have enough. If not just slash some nearby bushes.

3.4 Path to Forest Temple

Now that you have the small key from Coro go ahead and walk back down the other path to open the locked gate. Go through the tunnel and exit again on the other side. On the other side you should notice that the purple fog is still present so you will have to find a way across. As you approach the monkey you saved earlier will appear and steal your Lantern. The monkey will swing the lantern at you and indicate you to follow him through the fog.

The monkey will slowly work her way through the fog and use your lantern to clear the path. Follow closely as you will be hurt by the fog if you lag too far behind. Sadly the monkey will take her time getting across so when you reach the other side she will drop your now empty lantern. Now just follow the monkey through the open gate.

In this area you can just head further north until you come across a Golden Wolf. This wolf will make several appearances throughout the game and will help Link learn a variety of new sword skills. As you approach the wolf will jump at Link causing you to be teleported to a strange area outside of Hyrule Castle. An ancient warrior will be standing there, known as the Hero’s Shade. After going through the tutorial with the Hero’s Shade Link will be taught the “Ending Blow” technique which allows you to finish an enemy that has been knocked to the ground. Once this is over Link will be returned to the Faron Woods.

Now continue north and run past the 2 bokoblins. At the end of the path is a giant spider web. Use the lantern on it to enter the Forest Temple.
