Temple of Time Walkthrough

17.1 Getting The Dungeon Map

After entering the Temple of Time, a quick cut-scene will give a brief layout of the main room. After running forward up a set up steps, Midna will stop you and encourage you to use your senses around the door in front of you as it looks odd to her. Transform into Wolf Link and you’ll see a ghostly image of a statue that was once there. Our first objective is now clear: we need to find a statue that looks like the other one and bring it to this area.
You’ll notice a switch on a platform and conveniently two heavy jars by it. Pick up one of the jars and put place it on the switch, locking it. This will cause a platform to rise. Jump onto the newly raised platform and take the staircase across to the other side. Pull out your lantern and light the torches and a chest will appear containing a small key. Grab the key.
Turn around and head towards the center of the staircase. Before we can go up the other set of stairs, Ooccoo will stop you to be your easy ticket out of the dungeon. After the dialogue with Ooccoo, head up the stairs and open the locked door.
Through this door will be the first hint of the dungeon boss as this room has a few little Gohma’s walking about. Take out the one in the main room and place a pot on the center switch in the room. The closed gates will now open. There is a chest in here that has arrows. If needed, get them now.
Go through the east passage and take out another little Gohma. You’ll see that the path is blocked by a closed gate. Turn around and use either an arrow or your clawshot and destroy the pot that we just placed. Doing so will open the currently closed gate.
As you climb the steps, a Lizalfos will attack. Take him out and continue up the stairs battling more Lizalfos. At the top of the steps there is also an Armos. Grab its attention by getting close to it and attack the jewel on their backside. Armos’ attacks can be deflected by Link’s shield. As normal with these baddies, once enough hits to the back occur, take cover as they will start moving around like crazy and explode.
Now that the enemies in this area are cleared, a treasure chest will appear. Open it to receive the dungeon map. There is a ledge that has a small treasure chest containing a red rupee. Grab it if needed. From this ledge, pick up one of the small states and place it on one of the switches. Repeat this process with the other statue and the opposite switch. This will open the barrier to the next room.

17.2 Getting The Compass

As you make your way into this new, big circular room, you’ll find more Lizalfos roaming about. Take them out. Start on the staircase and battle more Lizalfos. You’ll reach a point in your ascent that you can’t make it any higher, but take note of the spinner track on the wall. Equip the spinner and proceed.
As you get to the top, ignore the locked door and heads towards the platform in the center of the room. There are two spikes that are going opposite each other, so be mindful of their pattern soon.
Push the center console to descend the platform. As you do, turn around and grab the small statue and place it on the platform. Push the console again to ascend. Carry the statue along the platform avoiding the spikes and place on one of the switches. There is another statue on this platform. Retrieve it and place opposite the one we just placed, only this time, stand on the marble platform when placing on the switch, as this platform will rise. Once on the next level up, go through the door.
Once inside, the door will seal behind you. Take out the two armos in this room. Once they’re defeated, a treasure chest will appear. Open it up and get the small key. There is another small chest in this room that contains a red rupee. Go back through the door we came in.
Avoiding the spikes, run across to the opposite side and open the locked door.
This room has a green crystal switch that will slide walls creating different paths. Hit it and the switch will go red. Head through and you’ll encounter a Beamos. Take an arrow to its eye and it’s defeated. Pass through to the next area of the room and stand on the center platform. Shoot an arrow at the red switch to turn it green. Defeat a second Beamos and continue to the west side of the room. Open the treasure chest and get the compass.
Move out of the little cubby where the chest is and shoot an arrow at the switch. Take the now open corridor steps and take out the Lizalfos as you make your way up.
From here, move away from the treasure chest and aim through two rings. Hit the crystal switch to change it back to red. You can now head through a corridor at the northeast portion of this room. Walk up the steps and defeat two lizalfos on your way.

17.3 New Item: The Dominion Rod

As you reach the top of the steps, another room that uses the crystal switch to move walls is in this room.Take out the Lizalfos and Dynalfos. There’s an electric current from stopping us from going through this area, so shoot the crystal and go through the newly created path. Another Dynalfos waits for us. Take him out, shoot the switch, and take the steps up and go through the door.
Once through the door start attacking the Gohma and the Gohma larvae. The spinner is very useful against the larvae. Once the area is clear, a treasure chest with a purple rupee will appear.

Scale the steps and once reaching the top the camera will quickly pan out to show this is a scale puzzle. Step on the first scale and the balance of weight will be off and the scale you are on will go down. Pick up the stone statue and toss it over to the higher scale and it will balance the weight. Now walk over to the second scale and the weight will be unbalanced once again. Pick up both of the stone statues and toss them to the other scale to once again balance the weight. Annoying, but now it’s over. Go through the door.

Use arrows to defeat the Beamos that is in the center of the room. Walk around the spikes in this area and you’ll fight three more Lizalfos near the top of the steps. Defeat them and walk to the south of the room to find some long rolling spikes. Wait until the spikes have rolled to your left and then quickly run straight ahead. Quickly run past the giant pendulum blade and open the treasure chest to get a small key.
Run back past the pendulum blade and then wait for the rolling spikes to pass to your right. Quickly run to the right where there’ll be a second rolling spike. Run across when you get a chance to get to the northeast corner of this area. On the other side of the fence you’ll see a small switch in the floor. In the area you are in, there is a small statue. Lift the statue and then wait for the rolling spikes to pass and quickly run over to the switch. Place the statue on the switch and the electric charge to the north will stop.

Head up the steps and there will be more Gohma larvae as well as two more Armos statues. Clear the area. Once clear another chest with a purple rupee will appear. Once both Armos are defeated the gate to the west will open up. Follow past this next small area and open the locked door. Once in the room, the missing statue from the entrance of the temple is shown. Head towards it and the mini-boss of the dungeon will appear.
The Darknut is a famous Zelda enemy. The back slice works well against the Darknut but even that will be blocked quite often. Your best bet is to just hold out your shield and keep side jumping and when he appears vulnerable strike with your sword. Use the shield attack and helm splitter if the attacks pop-up. Each time you hit the darknut a piece of armor will fall off of him. After several hits, all his armor will be removed and he’ll toss away his massive sword and pull out a more traditional blade. Just keep dodging his attacks and making yours.
Once finished with the Darknut, open the chest that appears and obtain the Dominion Rod. Shoot up at the statue. The statue will mimic Link’s movement patterns, so head towards the entrance to the room. Line the statue up to the illuminated platform and it will be teleported out of the room. Leave the room and the big statue will appear before Link again.

17.4 Getting The Big Key

Activate the statue again with the Dominion Rod. While controlling the statue, Link can use the dominion rod and the statue will use its massive hammer as a weapon. You’ll see the statue appear in the next room. Use the dominion rod and activate it once again. Walk it towards the gate and then use its massive axe to break it down. Guiding the statue with Link can take a little getting used to with the flow.
Move the statue down below and defeat the two armos statues that have re-spawned. There is a switch on the floor in the center of the room that controls a platform to the south. Use the dominion rod and move the statue all the way against the platform at the south. Deactivate the statue and then go stand on the switch to lower the platform. Activate the statue while standing on the switch and walk to the south. The massive statue will climb up with the platform.
Activate the statue again and walk your way back to the east side of the room. Use the statues giant axe hammer and break the moving spikes that are rolling along the floor. Walk down the steps with the statue and use the axe hammer to break all the tiny spikes and the Beamos statue. A small switch is now revealed which controls a platform at the south end of this room.

Use the dominion rod and you are able to activate one of the smaller statues and move it on to the switch where the Beamos statue stood. Activate the large statue and line it up to be teleported. Exit the room.

Use the dominion rod and bring the statue down from the higher ledge. Walk it down the steps and onto the first scale. Since the statue is so heavy, this scale will move to the bottom. Pick up the small statue that is also on this scale and toss it to the higher scale. Jump down to the bottom of this room and the gohma larvae will have respawned. Defeat them, then climb the stairs along the north side of the room. Step on the scale on the north end and the weight will be even. Take control of the large statue once again and walk it over to the scale to the north. The weight will become unbalanced once more. Lift up the two small statues and toss them over to the other scale. This is still not enough weight.

Climb back up to the north and if you look at the wall to the west, you’ll see three small statues. Use your dominion rod to bring down two of them and toss them onto the other scale. Step off both scales and the weight should finally be level. Control the large statue and walk it to the north end of the room. Walk down the stairs and position the statue in the center of the room above the symbol to teleport it out of the room.

Climb back up the stairs and onto the scale. Since there are 4 small statues on the other side of the scale, your side of the scale will remain high even when you stand on it. Use your clawshot and aim at the ceiling in the center of the room. Grab onto the target and then fall and you’ll land on the center structure.

Equip your spinner and attach yourself to the spinner track along the wall. If you go clockwise, the track is broken, so be sure to go counter clockwise. Take the track around the room and then jump off the spinner and transform into wolf Link. A Poe is waiting for you right in this area. Use your senses and defeat it to get the 52nd Poe soul. Once defeated, be sure to open up the nearby treasure chest to get a red rupee. Now go through the door on the west side of the room.
Defeat the two Helmasaurs as well as the armos knight that are on this bottom level.. Clawshot on the ceiling target and bring up the two Helmasaur shields. Place the two statues from this level on two of the switches and the two shields on the other two. Grab the red rupee in the chest if needed. Drop down and retrieve the big key and head out the way you came in.

17.5 Optional: Temple of Time Heart Pieces

Drop down to the lower area and head back to the room to the east. Run down the steps and you’ll see the guardian statue on the other side of the fence. Use the dominion rod and take control of the statue. Walk to the north and even though Link will walk into a wall, the statue will keep moving. Once it reaches a wall deactivate it. Step on the small circle and then use your arrows to shoot the crystal switch and change it back to red. .Walk to the north and use the dominion rod on the large statue once more. Move it so that it is standing on the switch in the center of the room. This will deactivate the electric charge. Walk to the northeast corner of the room and you’ll see a treasure chest. Open it to get the first heart piece.
Walk back to the other side of where the electric charge was and activate the statue. Instead of hitting the crystal switch, just use the statue’s hammer to break through the moveable wall. Walk the statue through the corridor at the northwest part of the room. Use the statue to break through any Beamos and moveable walls. Once those are out of the way, move the statue towards the symbol that is in the center part of this area. Go through the door at the southwest part of this room.

Examining the map, there is a treasure chest in the corridor that is to the south. You have to repeat the same process you did before in order to get to the door that leads south. Push the wedge of the center platform to the bottom and grab the small statue. Push the wedge in the center back up and place it on the switch near the door to the south. Grab the second nearby statue and place it on the other switch. Quickly run onto the platform and then go through the door to the south.
This room is now filled with gohmas and gohma larvae. Take them all out then go to the far south of the room where there is a treasure chest that we opened earlier. Face the west end of the room and there is a small statue on a higher ledge. Activate it with the dominion rod and head north.. After going down as far as the statue can go, move the statue on to the switch. This can be a little tricky to see.

Look at the opposite side and there is no small statue on this side. Lift up one of the small statues that’s in the center of the room and then head to the south of the room. From the center area, toss the stone statue over the ledge. Activate this statue with the Dominion Rod and move it just like before. There is another switch at the end of this area. Once both statues are on both switches, a treasure chest will appear. Run on over and open it up to get the second piece of heart. Return to the large circular room.

17.6 Back to the Beginning

Run to the wedge that controls the central platform and this time push it counter-clockwise, raising the platform to the top of the room. The large stone statue is found under the bell here. Activate it and bring it to the central platform. Push the wedge clockwise twice to get all the way to the bottom of the room.
Defeat a bunch of gohma larvae that are found here and the electric fence on the east side of the room will disappear. Activate the guardian statue and walk past where the electric barrier was. Walk to the west end of the room with the statue and use the statue’s hammer to break the gate. Transform into Wolf Link and defeat the Poe here. Transform back into Human Link.

Activate the guardian statue again and take it to the north end of the room. Break the gate with the statue’s hammer and move the guardian statue to the illuminated port so it can be teleported again. Go through the door that is at the east end of the room.
Run down the stairs and then use the clawshot on the target on the ceiling to get past the gate. Defeat the Armos statue then activate the guardian statue. Walk down the steps at the southwest corner of the room along with the guardian statue. Break through the gate and then take the statue to the teleportation pod at the west end of the room. Go through the door to the north to get back to the temple’s first room.
Jump down to the bottom of the room and use the Dominion Rod to activate the statue. Move it over to the door to the north and place it above the symbol that rests on the floor. The door will open so go straight ahead.
Use your arrows and deactivate the Beamos. Avoid the spike and jump across the small gap. Continue through the room defeating two more Beamos while avoiding swinging pendulum blades. After passing two pendulum blades, there will be a switch on the ground. Pick up the small statue that is by the first pendulum blade and place it on the switch. The first gate will open but the back gate will close. Jump across the gap and cross where the first gate was. Turn around and use the Dominion Rod on the small statue you just placed. Walk to the north and the statue will move off of the switch, opening the back gate.

17.7 Twilit Arachnid: Armogohma

There are two Gohma’s to take out before the big door. There’s also some pots with arrows and rupees and a stray fairy. Stock up if needed. Definitely get arrows.
Enter the boss door.

Once inside, a cut-scene will start and Link will be able to see a few statues. Hint-hint.

Armogohma will start making its way down from the ceiling. As soon as the battle begins, ready your bow. Armogohma’s weak spot is the eye on its back, so when ever you see it, shoot it with an arrow. Armogohma should drop from the ceiling and then use the Dominion Rod on the statue nearest Armogohma to smash it. The big beasy will then crawl back to the ceiling. Repeat this process a few times.

While on the ceiling, similar to the Ocarina of Time Gohma battle, Armogohma will drop larvae for Link to fight, as well as eggs that hatch into little Gohma’s.

After a few hits from the statues, Armogohma will appear defeated – then we see the eye by dozens of larvae. We’re not done yet. This part of the fight requires patience or tact. The fastest way to defeat it is to get the eye in front of a statue and activate it with the Dominion Rod. Or you can hack and slash the larvae and shoot arrows at the eye.

Once defeated, get the Mirror Shard and the heart container and exit the temple.
