Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of Super Smash Bros., has shown off a new outfit for Zero Suit Samus based on her appearances in Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission.

As you can see from the images, Samus is definitely showing a bit more skin than most of her other outfits. Sakurai states that this decision was a last minute insert into the game.

Looking at the number of days we have left for development, it would be an impossible task to create this… That’s what I told my staff,” he revealed. “But thanks to the determination of her female designer, these Zero Suit outfits got completed in time. From the ending of Metroid: Zero Mission, here’s Samus in shorts! You can use the same outfit variations in both the 3DS and Wii U versions.

What do you think of Samus in shorts? Is this costume too revealing? Samus has a history of showing some skin so should this really shock us? Share your thoughts in the comments.

Nothing wrong with it at all, people complaining about this being inappropriate is the reason why people look down on Nintendo as a “Kiddy” franchise.

I agree. Samus has been showing skin since the very first game. This is just a true “zero suit” skin :)

Just because she ‘always has’ doesn’t make it correct. In the end, it makes no sense for her character. Neither in personality nor background. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Bayonetta. There can be some sexiness, but for chrissakes a little variation please. Samus is a warrior, a soldier, and someone entrusted with great responsibility. She should be a balance of practicality and strength. Hell, make her bold and fierce, but 1) Breasts don’t work that way, 2) Spines don’t work that way, and 3) Those poses don’t work for fighting or shooting. It just looks awkward and painful.
