Zelda Wii U Will be Different Says Aonuma

Earlier today we posted a story about Aonuma’s concerns in regards to A Link Between Worlds’ fan reception. In this same interview, he briefly touched upon the little-known Zelda Wii U project. While Aonuma kept details as vague as possible, he did briefly talk about the direction the game could go in…and that is any direction. Aonuma once again spoke about shaking up the series’ formula and experimenting with things a bit.

There are no limitations on what kind of place Hyrule can be, other than that it is a country where Zelda exists as its Princess. We now have many titles in the series, so we are seeing characters and location names from previous titles coming up again. We are using these when it adds to the fun, but there is no rule that we have to use these at all. We may even need to change things you might take for granted like Zelda being a Princess. I would really like the next Hyrule to be a setting no one has ever imagined before.

I personally like to hear comments like this. I would love to see the Zelda formula get overhauled to bring new gameplay mechanics to life. Do you agree or disagree? Let us know in the comments.
