Zelda Wii U Updated Sneak Peek

Towards the end of Friday, December 5 2014 – Nintendo surprised many fans with some quick previews, namely a fairly well developed Zelda for the Wii U.

Here’s what we can take away from this new preview:

  • The world map will utilize way-point system, allowing the player to select destination points and follow the path on the Wii U Gamepad.
  • The world itself is huge, having lots of great, tall viewing points. “It would take a very long time to walk.”
  • The Sail Cloth returns, convenient for all those high up jumps we’re prone to take.
  • Epona is back in a style that is similar to Twilight Princess, allowing sword play and bow and arrow use.
  • The world is so lush, that fruit, bug migration, and other vegetation has apparently occurred. Apples can be picked for Link to eat to restore health.
  • Field monsters displayed looked similar in art style to Skyward Sword villains.
  • Link can vault off Epona and appears to have this bullet time effect with the bow and arrow, slowing his descent to the ground to give the player time to fire arrows.
  • Star Fox for the Wii U will be out before Zelda Wii U.
  • Link appears to be Right Handed in this game.
  • Wild animals appear in the game (see below).

Though this is still a developed game, this closer to finished product almost 6 months from being teased at E3 2014 is starting to look like a fully developed world for us to explore and to admire. Just the Zelda material we’ve been looking for.

At the red arrow, there is clearly some sort of animal - either a goat or big cat. Blue arrow points to a small fortress.

  • This is beyond exciting news. I can really see some improvements from E3 even to now.

This article has opened my eyes to a whole abundance of features I hadn’t noticed whilst watching the video, I assume Link is right handed due to a possibility of wii remote controls, like they did with twilight princess and skyward sword. The idea of seeing wild animals such as the horses is just exhilarating, everything featured here is more than enough reason to be extremely excited for the game!
