Since the E3 trailer was shown there has been a lot of speculation about who the blonde girl was that Link was hanging out with. Many automatically thought that it could be Zelda and others thought that maybe she was an Ilia or Aryll like character who was just a close person to Link.
This picture from a segment at the beginning of the game shows how Link knows Zelda and suggests that you should show her this trophy that you just won. This image also most likely confirms that the blonde girl is in fact Zelda and sets up some interesting fan speculation and theorizing in their role in creating Hyrule.
