World of Nintendo Figures to Expand Zelda Figures

Recently, toy manufacturer Jakks Pacific has released a wave of Nintendo based action figures under the banner World of Nintendo. This series features figures from a few Nintendo games, but most noticeably are Mario, Yoshi, and Link, as well as play sets from the Super Mario Bros. series.

Jakks Pacific recently announced the expected continuation of these figures and play sets, with a few added Zelda characters appearing.

Currently, Wave 1 is out on most toy store shelves featuring the three characters above, as well as Wario and Bowser.

Set for April 2015, Wave 2 is looking to include the following:

  • 4″ Blue Toad
  • 4″ Luigi
  • 4″ Diddy Kong
  • 4″ Samus Aran (Metroid Prime suit).
  • 6″ Metroid
  • 6″ Ganondorf (The Wind Waker costume)

This is a rough prototype of Ganondorf, or “Ganon,” as labeled from Jakks.

Wave 3 (coming July 2015):

  • 4″ Fire Mario (with Fire Flower accessory)
  • 4″ Goomba (with a Coin accessory)
  • 4″ Peach (with a Crown accessory)
  • 4″ Fox McCloud (From Star Fox, with Arwing accessory)
  • 6″ Yoshi (Possibly a different color Yoshi?)
  • 6″ Skull Kid (From, and hopefully with, Majora’s Mask)

Wave 4 (coming August 2015):

  • 4″ Tanooki Mario (with Tanooki Leaf accessory)
  • 4″ Samus Aran in Gravity Suit (with Morph Ball accessory)
  • 4″ Shy Guy (with propeller accessory)
  • 4″ Fire Luigi (with Fire Flower accessory)
  • 4″ Link (Ocarina of Time costume, featuring the Hylian Shield)
  • 6″ Piranha Plant
  • 6″ Metal Bowser OR Dry Bowser (TBD)

There are rumors and even sketches indicating a few play sets based off of The Wind Waker, featuring Tetra and her pirate ship, Ganondorf’s Castle, and Outset Island. Rumored to appear in Wave 3, we’ve not been able to confirm these sets yet. If true, these would be great additions to any Zelda fan’s collection!

If you are a collector by any means, definitely keep a look out for these items. The Jakks Pacific Link (Skyward Sword costume) from Wave 1, which is hard to find on shelves, tends to sell for about $25 now, which is almost double the retail cost.

You can bet that once Skull Kid hits the shelves, you’ll want to grab as many of those as you can.

Have you picked up any of the series 1-1 World of Nintendo figures? If so, which ones? Tell us about that, as well as your thoughts, in the comment section below.

It seems like the Target stores in my area restocked the 4″ Link recently. I’ve also been able to find a couple of the smaller 2.5″ Ganondorfs and a 2.5″ Link. Definitely would buy those described Zelda Wind Waker playsets, even at a high price!
