Akira Himekawa’s new manga based on The Legend of Zelda series was announced back in July 2015. The game that manga was taking from had been kept secret until now; it turns out the teams is working on an adaptation of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The manga will be published through Manga One, a Japanese manga app by Shogakukan. There is no word on a release date or physical printing as of current, nor serialization in other languages.
This project was apparently something that Akira Himekawa had been wanting to do for years but could not because Twilight Princess received a CERO B rating (the equivalent of an ESRB T rating). The manga publications were normally targeted toward a younger audience, so the adaptation was nixed.
The new Twilight Princess project also has little to do with the fact the game is being remade for the Wii U. The manga and game releases just happen to line up around the same time, but it could be seen as could luck. With The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD on the way, a manga based on the game will be more relevant.
Keep your eyes out for more news on the Twilight Princess manga in the future.
