Twilight Princess HD Gameplay Updates

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will be releasing into stores in just over a month. While the vast majority of the title will be unchanged from the original Gamecube release, there have been several rather significant gameplay changes announced. Nintendo has followed-up on these new features with a press release to highlight and expand upon the modifications.

Wii U GamePad

  • Gyroscopic item control is back.
  • The Gamepad can be used to view the entirety of a dungeon’s map
  • Will feature off-screen play
  • The camera can be freely controlled through the right stick

Miiverse stamps

  • A whopping 50 total stamps
  • Designs include the Hyrulian alphabet, characters faces, and more
  • Stamps can be posted to the Miiverse while still in the game

Hard mode

  • World is mirrored. Not sure if it is mirrored from the Gamecube or the Wii version.
  • Link takes 2X as much damage
  • No recovery hearts

Wolf Link amiibo

  • Can be used to fast track loading of your adventure. Simply scan it and instantly start the game.
  • Includes a checkpoint system that can be used to jump around the game.

Ghost Torch

  • Used for finding poes. Can be used to pinpoint their exact location during the day.

Ganondorf amiibo

  • Can be used to greatly increase the game’s difficulty. Link will take 4X the usual damage. Lasts until the game is shut down.

Additional Changes

  • Horseback riding and swimming are being improved.
  • Less Tears of Light are required to clear the Twilight covered areas.
