Top 5 Items We Want to See in Zelda Wii U

Hey fans! Time for another Hidden Triforce Top 5 list! This time, we’re going to put our wish list of items we’d like to see make their way back to the upcoming Zelda Wii U title. A few items (i.e. hookshot, bombs, and boomerang) are being omitted from this list as they’ll probably end up in the game as they’re more or less staples of 3D Zelda games.

#5 – A Spell Book

spellbook

This would be a great way to really utilize the Wii U gamepad. How cool would it be if a little more magic returned to the Zelda series with a spell book that can hold spells similar to Din’s Fire or that could decipher old text like the Book of Mudora? It’d be no different than swapping the gamepad around like in Wind Waker HD and just select the spell needed. Perhaps instead of musical instruments and songs, maybe this game could focus on acquired spells to unlock dungeon areas and nearby secrets. This would be a great way to keep the mysticism of Zelda in the gameplay, along with bringing back magical elements that have been sorely missed lately.

#4) – The Beetle

beetle

Introduced in Skyward Sword, this little gadget was a life saver! There are a few improvements that could be done with the beetle for the Wii U, for example, predetermined paths that you can map out on the gamepad a la the boomerang in Phantom Hourglass in a dungeon room or something clever. As for full practical use, let it be an advanced version from Skyward Sword with a hint of the batarang from Arkahm City: Armored Edition.

The question to really ask is: do we just get one master beetle that does all, or do we try to revive the upgrade system from Skyward Sword for item upgrades?

#3) – The Rods

old rod

Going back to the suggestion of using spells and spell books, this suggestion continues the desire to see a little more magic in the game, and how cool would it be to use the fire rod, the ice rod, the sand rod, or even seeing the Dominion Rod return in a 3D Zelda game?

Or why not revisit the Rod of Seasons? Could you imagine how cool this vast world would look if you could alter the seasons at your whim?

The real trick is how to get these items to function in a 3D environment versus the 2D over-head environment where they thrive.

There’s a good chance pending if they’re successful in Hyrule Warriors that we might get to see these items in a full Zelda game.

#2) – The Spinner

spinner

Though pretty specific to Twilight Princess, the Spinner was a really clever item and would be cool to see a similar item appear for the Wii U. Though horseback is fun, it’d be great if this were able to replace a horse for those that prefer a different mode of transportation.

Perhaps if there were certain areas that were utilizing a track system, maybe similar to Spirit Tracks, then the Wii U gamepad could be utilized wonderfully here, too.

#1) – Beam Sword

beam

More or less brought back in Skyward Sword with Skyward Strike, it’d be great to see Link get the ability to shoot beams from his sword. The only other 3D game to feature this is Majora’s Mask while using the Fierce Deity mask. This could be handy to take care of a few monsters that are closing in one way and then turn quick to another direction for a hack and slash attack. Based on what Nintendo is saying,  Zelda Wii U wants to break new ground while still remaining faithful – what better want to stay faithful than by bringing back the most iconic feature of the NES Zelda games?

Though some of these items might be a stretch, this is what we’re hoping to see on the upcoming Zelda for the Wii U. What items would you like to see again?

I hate magic so i hope the put less as possible and I really hate the magic book it e fends Christians because it has a cross on it.

    • Noah Glaser

      It offends Christians?

      • Saphire Saphire

magic offends Christians its against there religion

        • Noah Glaser

I am sorry you feel that way. Crosses have been used as a symbol for many religions, and long before the idea of Christianity was even thought of. It is not meant as any kind of offense towards Christianity and really cannot be mistaken as being so without trying to put some negative malicious intent that was not implied.

        • Caitlin Moore

I’m Christian and it doesn’t bother me. It’s just a video game. We can’t get offended every time someone puts a cross on something. Magic is a purely fictional thing, so if it offends anyone, they need to chill.

Very true. There are a lot of things with magic that teaches good values. Harry Potter is one for example. A lot of religious groups ban the book even though the entire premise is about doing good, friendship, morals, etc.

But then things like The Chronicles of Narnia is considered okay? It has magic as well, but is generally accepted by religious groups. Kind of odd.

    • I feel it’s kind of hard to have a fantasy game without some element of “magic,” be it spells or wands or The Force.

The rods would be cool to see.

    • Noah Glaser

I would like to see a rod similar to the Rod of Seasons. Something that is capable of altering the entire world around you

What if we are able to use different means of transportation? For example, having your own horse to travel around but, when the time comes, being able to use a ship to travel by sea, or using a public mode of transportation to get to another region faster. Well, this is probably too much to ask.

I’d like to see the magic mirror I thought it was cool how twilight princess did that. And it was really strange not killing Gannon in skyward sword. it needs Gannon.
