E3 2014

E3-Nintendo

E3 2014 was covered by Noah live in LA and remote by Ben. The two were able to feed each other exciting news and comments and get them on the site for you, the fans!

Prior to E3, Ben made a Top 5 list that seemed to be pretty spot on. Many people scoffed at the idea of a Mario Paint game for the Wii U and what was announced? Mario Maker, the spiritual successor to Mario Paint!

The only thing that hasn’t happened on the list (yet) is the announcement of Blizzard releasing their WarCraft branded card game Hearthstone. But the likeliness of that happening is slim to none.

We also broke the news that Star Fox was indeed confirmed for the Wii U.

Canines for Kids Fundraiser

Canines-for-Disabled-Kids

In August, site owner Noah Glaser and site manager Ben Cornett decided to do a charity fundraiser for a group that was something they both wanted to champion for. Canines for Disabled Kids is a charity group that takes donations to house and train dogs to become companion service dogs for children with special needs. The purpose is to pair these young heroes together to become forever friends.

We reached out to many Etsy vendors and even our partners at Neato Shop for some sweet gear to give away, but to top it off, Noah agreed to do ridiculous stunts per every X amount of money raised, with the grand pay off being him covered from head to toe in slime.

Below you can watch Noah performing only two of the various challenges he felt like doing. Check them below:

Super Smash Bros.

super smash wii u

Nintendo spoiled us this year with two versions of Super Smash Bros.! We were finally able to take Smash on the go with the 3DS version and then the long awaited high def version for Wii U. Both games have boasted increased hardware sales, as well as being the top software sellers for both systems in their respective release months.

Hyrule Warriors

hw tp dlc

To hold us for over until next year’s highly anticipated Zelda title for the Wii U, a 3rd party developer mixed Dynasty Warriors with Zelda characters and thus Hyrule Warriors was born.

Featuring a slew of playable characters and items, this game brought together everything we loved about Zelda and combined the fun of hack and slash on those bad guys we love to fight.

Noah was gifted an advanced release copy from Nintendo and we were able to provide fans with a first look via our Let’s Play.

Robin Williams Passes Away

To the casual Zelda fan, you might be wondering why this made news for us. Academy Award winner Robin Williams was an avid gamer, and a known supporter of Nintendo. This is commonly known when many see Williams paired with his daughter, Zelda, named after the titular Princess.

Williams, known for his stand up comedy and feature films, fought a long battle with depression and substance abuse. Williams’ death was ruled a suicide, prompting many fans in the Zelda community to provide links and information to suicide awareness and prevention.

We at the Hidden Triforce value and appreciate organizations that assist in helping those lost in battles of depression and anxiety.
