New president of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima, recently talked to Times magazine about the NX console, amiibo, the fate of the Wii U and its state of “failure”, and more interestingly Miitomo. Miitomo has scarcely been talked about and in the interview Kimishima talked about Nintendo’s plans to hit the mobile market.

Kimishima supports his predecessors wariness towards porting older generation console games to phones. Before discussing Miitomo he said that Nintendo wants to cater to a larger population of gamers and one way they want to do this is by having people interact with their IPs more. Using “My Nintendo” and a “Nintendo Account” players will be able to earn points by interacting with Nintendo materials and later be able to use these points for rewards. Miitomo will then be the first smart device phone app released by Nintendo where users can interface with their Nintendo Account and use their My Nintendo to earn more points. Nintendo sees thee as their first steps towards a mobile market.
