Sheik Finally Confirmed as Being Female…Not Male

In Ocarina of Time, Princess Zelda disguised herself as a male figure known as Sheik. Sheik’s popularity has spurned on many a fan fiction, spin-off requests, and a multitude of debate on the gender of this character.

This debate has been very divisive throughout the Zelda community, despite it really being very straight forward. Sheik is nothing more than Princess Zelda in disguise. Yet there was some reason some room for fans to speculate that perhaps Zelda’s magic changed her sex entirely.

Thankfully this debate can now be put to rest for good. Sheik was not only referred to as a female character in yesterday’s Hyrule Warriors presentation, but Brill Trinen has definitively answered this question once and for all.

When asked about the matter on Twitter he had this to say,

The definitive answer is that Sheik is a woman — simply Zelda in a different outfit.

So there you have it, but fear not, the Zelda series still has a dozen other things fans can fight over.
