3ds DLC

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite parts about the Nintendo 3DS is its eShop. I also love the fact that I can get updates to my games through Xbox Live by the means of downloadable content. When I beat Fallout 3 I was sad that such a great game had to come to an end. But then there were a handful of addons released which extended the game to at least more than 10-15 hours of additional game-play.

In this day and age, DLC is just something that is expected with most games. However this is again something that Nintendo has been lagging behind in. Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata however is indicating that this is a trend that will end. At a recent Q&A, Iwata confirmed that there would be a DLC system implemented on the 3DS by the end of the year.

Iwata and Miyamoto alike apparently sees the value that DLC can have with extending the longevity of gamesand adding new features into an already released title. Something that I found nice is that Iwata mentioned that there would be no poor quality downloads such as stat boosting addons.

Lastly it was noted that there would most likely be no free playable download content on either the 3DS or the Wii U, which is also expected to have DLC for its games.
