Nintendo has just announced the unexpected death of their president Satoru Iwata. Iwata, 55 years old, has passed due to a growth in his bile duct. Nintendo’s statement is as follows,
Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.
Iwata was recently forced to miss several events due to poor health. While he had surgery to remove growths in his bile duct, his death is considered to be very unexpected. Iwata became president of Nintendo in 2002.
