Netflix Eyes ‘The Legend of Zelda’ as a Series

Netflix is looking to strike a deal with Nintendo to make The Legend of Zelda, one of Nintendo’s most beloved franchises, into a live-action series.

The negotiations are in the very early stages, but rumblings are suggesting a Lord of the Rings meets Game of Thrones type series set for the entire family.

We know that Nintendo is very protective of its properties, and that is why there have been limited forms of other media for their titles, short of 1993’s Super Mario Bros. movie which ultimately flopped.

This would not be the first time The Legend of Zelda has been made as a series. Paired with the animated Super Mario Bros. Super Show, The Legend of Zelda aired on Fridays in 1989.

Netflix and Nintendo have both declined to comment, but we will keep you fans up to date as soon as we hear anything!

Netflix has been making a decent name for themselves with original online content. Winning several awards for House of Cards  and now partnered with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, could Netflix be one of the first streaming services to provide original content based on video game characters?

What are your thoughts on this? A Game of Thrones type show designed for the family? Sound off in the comments below.
