Looking for classy, clean, and affordable Legend of Zelda decor for your home? HamsterCheeksStore is an Etsy shop, residing in the UK, that builds hand-finished, laser cut Hylian Shield clocks.
Around a year ago, owners Claire and Karel built their first clock due to their mutual love for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. After a recommendation from a friend, the two decided to build and sell more of their unique art. Building intricate designs such as the Hylian Shield can be a challenge for many artists, but the process has been perfected by the HamsterCheeksStore.
“(The process) begins with a sheet of birch plywood that is sanded by various grid sandpapers to make the surface smooth, clean and bring out the beautiful grain of birch wood. It is then waxed and polished by a quality bees wax to add colour and shine. A laser cutter is used to cut out all the shield pieces and these are glued in two stages to a painted MDF base. It takes two days to transform a raw plywood sheet into a finished clock and pack it ready for dispatch.”
The store currently offers three Legend of Zelda-inspired clocks: two Hylian Shield clocks, one painted and one not, and a Skull Kid clock. With these, Claire and Karel plan on bringing more items to their shop. “We have lots of ideas that we want to pursue in the future, cosplay, wall decorations, shield collections and much more! Lately we are busy with making custom items for returning customers, family and friends.” Aside from their Legend of Zelda series designs, HamsterCheeksStore also sells a Doctor Who-inspired “TARDIS” clock, as well as a Game of Thrones-inspired Stark House clock available to purchase.
