The first wave of Mario Kart 8’s downloadable content is out now!

As Zelda fans, we’re really excited about this news, as we now for the first time can play as Link in a Mario Kart game!

Coming with not only the Master Cycle, Link brings with him the Hyrule Circuit, a Hyrule inspired race track.

But our hero Link is not the only addition to this DLC pack.

Nintendo is providing fans that purchased the DLC the following new tracks:

  • Ice Ice Outpost – A new ice inspired track
  • Hyrule Circuit – Based on The Legend Of Zelda
  • Excitebike Arena – A tracked based on NES game Excitebike
  • Dragon Driftway – A new track that is on the back of a dragon
  • Mute City – Based on the SNES racing game F-Zero

And a few revamped retro tracks:

  • Yoshi Circuit – From Mario Kart Double Dash
  • Wario’s Gold Mine – From Mario Kart Wii
  • Rainbow Road – From Super Mario Kart

There are three new characters (though in my eyes, there’s really only one new character in this pack and two new skins for existing characters):

  • Link – From The Legend Of Zelda
  • Tanooki Mario – Based on Super Mario Bros 3 & New Super Mario Land 3D
  • Cat Peach – From New Super Mario World

Then we have four new vehicles:

  • Blue Falcon – From F-Zero
  • Master Cycle – A Zelda-themed bike that looks like something of Fi meets Epona on two wheels
  • Tanooki Kart – A jeep based on the Tanooki suit
  • B-Dasher – A kart seen in Mario Kart for the Nintendo DS

The DLC is $7.99 per pack, or you can still download both for $11.99.
