Loads of Skyward Sword Details

An interview with Aonuma was recently published in the Famitsu Magazine. In this interview a lot of new details about the upcoming Skyward Sword was released. Some of this information we have already heard, but a lot of it is expanded upon to bring us a lot of new plot details. So let’s take a look at what we have.

Zelda is not of royal blood
In Skyward Sword Zelda is not a princess, This is something that I have been expecting as there is no Hyrule at this point. Zelda is merely a childhood friend who gets taken away early on and it is up to Link to search for her.

Bird Riding and town people of Skyloft play a huge role

In the E3 demo we saw Link competing against classmates in a bird riding competition. There was one guy who was playing a bit unfair as he has a thing for Zelda and wants to impress her. He will be playing a role in the game that probably continues in his efforts to win her over.

As we all know the game starts in Skyloft, a city in the air. The setup sort of like Majora’s Mask where Skyloft is the central hub (like Clock Town was) and there is always something going on in town. A lot of events involving the folks of Skyloft will take place and get intertwined with the plot of Skyward Sword.

Items appear early on in game

In most Zelda titles Link does not acquire a whole lot of his cooler items until late in the game. Link generally just uses a basic set of classic Zelda items and gradually finds better stuff. Shigeru Miyamoto apparently thought it was time for that to change so Link will be getting a lot of his items earlier on in the game.

-Skyloft is the entire ‘world’
From what was said, it seems that there are no people except for in Skyloft. And nobody in Skyloft knows anything about the world below the clouds. However this gets expanded on when Zelda is taken away and as Link gains access to new areas.

Aonuma may a weird statement in response to the question, “Is Skyloft the entire ‘world’ in this game?”  He replied by repeating that the people of Skyloft are ignorant of what is below them.

-Everybody has a Bird. Link has a special one
In Skyloft every individual person has their own bird to ride on. However Link’s is red, which is special and rare. This causes many of his peers to pick on him out of jealousy. That red bird is also key to getting to the mainland below the clouds.

-Lord Ghirahim changes fight strategy and character throughout Skyward Sword
In the battle demo with Lord Ghirahim we saw a unique kind of fight sequence with him similar to that of Dark Link of Ocarina of Time. He is very defensive in his fighting and that will require gamers  to watch themselves and adapt their strategy. During the game he will also change his tactics up a lot so be prepared to get good at combat.

-Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time?

As we know this game is all about the creation of the Master Sword and is the first game  in the series. So many have been wondering if Ganondorf will be touched upon or show up. It was stated that a lot of references to the OoT Ganondorf will be in the game and you should catch on to a lot of these things.

-Skyward Sword is completed. Just being localized

It is good to know that Skyward Sword has in fact been completed. So we should not expect any huge delays. Right now it is just being localized and fine tuned. Nintendo is hoping to release the game on the same day world-wide.
