Indiana University Southeast Uses Light World Dungeon Theme For Hold Music

I was on hold with Indiana University Southeast’s Financial Aid office earlier when I noticed a familiar tune playing on the line. I wasn’t positive, but to me the on-hold music sounded like one of the dungeons from the Legend of Zelda series. After some investigating I have concluded that this university is using a segment from A Link to the Past’s Light World dungeon theme as their call music.

I have recorded this tune from the university and uploaded it here to the site so you can hear the similarities yourself.

The Original

For those of you who would prefer some technical proof, we have opened both audio files in Audacity to compare the wave forms. As you can see below, they match-up almost perfectly, with one version being slightly faster than the other.

They sound fairly similar don’t they? Let us know what you think in the comments. While we do not encourage it, you can hear for yourself at 812-941-2246.

I feel like the ending there with the piano chords also sounds like a segment from another Zelda song

        It’s a short segment from Ganondorf’s theme. :)
