Hyrule Warriors had four DLC packs, but of all of these, only Master Quest expanded on the story as it showed the story of Cia and her rise to power. Now that Hyrule Warrior Legends has been officially announced for the Nintendo 3DS, many might be wondering how it is different from the Wii U version, other than its inclusion of Tetra and the King of Hyrule as playable characters.
According to a Famitsu interview with Yosuke Hayashi, producer of Hyrule Warriors Legends, the game will have an epilogue following the story of Hyrule Warriors, and it will feature The Wind Waker. This does not confirm the possibility of maps based on The Wind Waker, but it heavily implies it. Hayashi states that they had wanted to include characters from The Wind Waker in the original game, but the graphical style was too out of place with the one Koei Tecmo has decided on.
It also seems that Tetra and King of Hyrule are not the only new characters that will make it into the game. Hayashi reveals “there are fan favorites and surprising characters” that have yet to be shown. As of now, there is no DLC planned for the game, so it can be assumed that whatever characters that make it in will be available when the game launches.
StreetPass functionality has also been confirmed, it sound likes it will work like the Network Links in Hyrule Warriors. With this feature, players will access the Adventure Mode and complete missions for weapons and items. Amiibo compatibility is also included, and it will work as it did in the previous game, unlocking weapons for a corresponding Zelda characters and a random prize for any other compatible Amiibo.
Hyrule Warriors Legend will be available in spring of 2016.
