Hyrule Warriors Announced for Wii U

Nintendo has revealed a new Zelda themed title being called Hyrule Warriors, being developed by  Tecmo Koei for the Wii U.

Hyrule Warriors, a potential working titie, has been announced during today’s Nintendo Direct event. Nintendo president, Iwata has stressed that this is not the upcoming Zelda Wii U title, but is a side project that combines the Zelda and Warrior series. Many items, monsters and characters from the Legend of Zelda series will be in Hyrule Warriors.

Zelda items shown in footage shown during the presentation includes Link’s sword, bombs, a Hylian shield, the fire rod, and Link’s legendary spin attack.

Hyrule Warriors will be the first Warriors crossover in several years, but the first to feature Zelda themed icons. Hyrule Warriors is due out in 2014 on the Nintendo Wii U.
