You’ve heard the rumors of a real Zelda movie hitting the theaters before but you won’t hear them now. Skylight Studios, a fairly new film organization, has stepped up and announced the production of a Hollywood caliber Zelda movie. With that said, let’s talk about the movie itself. First of all, the film is set to release in late 2017. The trailer below said the film would be released in “Summer 2016” so they’ve already pushed the date back quite a bit! The film is supposed to tell the story of (Spoiler Alert) Hylia’s First Hero. In Skyward Sword, we learn that Link is Hylia’s second attempt at a hero. We learn that before he was even born, he was destined to obtain the Triforce, defeat Demise, and become the Chosen Hero. Not much is known about this first hero other than he died trying to protect Hylia. Well right off the bat we know that Link will die in this upcoming movie (unless they aren’t sticking to canon). With his death being one of the only confirmed things, they will have to do a good job explaining a few details such as:
1. How did the war between Hylia and Demise begin?
2. The Creation of the Goddess Sword and Fi.
3. Skyloft’s Conception.
and much, much more.
The director of the production has said that “we’re doing it for the fans.” A few months back, Skylight Studios posted their first attempt at a Zelda fan movie. Click the link below to check it out.
The director has also said that “Threads of Fate” was a good first try, but this new movie won’t be anything like it. He claims that it’ll look much more professional and will be more thought out. The title of the project is Project Imprisonment. For full coverage on the upcoming fan film, check out Skylight Studios’ YouTube or visit us here! We’ll have all the details. Here’s the teaser trailer.
So what do you think? I only enjoy Zelda fan films if they are truly professional and so far, there have only been a few. Could this film really be the biggest Zelda project yet? Tell us what you think!
