For the second year in a row Nintendo will be deviating from the traditional E3 conference format in favor of something more unique. On June 10th, at 12 P.M. EST,Nintendo will instead opt to stream a digital event for all to watch.

During the last few weeks several notable games have been announced as part of the pre-E3 hype that Nintendo is well-known for generating. Major announcements in regards to Hyrule Warriors and remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire will help to drive interest to Nintendo’s booths, but the real anticipation are for games that we are absolutely sure will be making an appearance.

The Legend of Zelda Wii U

Last year Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the Zelda series, stated that we would be seeing the upcoming Zelda Wii U title at this year’s E3. Since then we have very little information about the upcoming console release to our favorite series. However, according to developer interviews, this game will attempt to break away from some of the series standards in an attempt to refresh the franchise.

While we are not sure just how much of this Zelda game will be revealed, we do know that it will be present in some form.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS

There is a 100% chance that these games will be at E3 this year. Nintendo has already announced that the 3DS version will be released this summer and the Wii U version this winter. Both of these Super Smash games are one of Nintendo’s biggest draws for the year, so it only makes sense that they would take this opportunity to promote the titles.

Several new characters were announced for the games last year, so perhaps we have a few more surprise additions to the roster as well. We should also be in for some information in regards to the game’s  NFP features.

Yarn Yoshi

It has been about a year since we first learned of Yarn Yoshi’s existence. Very little information about the game is known at this time, but it has been confirmed to be making an appearance this year.

Yarn Yoshi is the first console Yoshi title since Yoshi’s Story, and has a similar graphical style as Kriby’s Epic Yarn.

Bayonetta 2

Nintendo made headlines when Bayonetta 2 was announced as a Wii U exclusive. Since then little has been released about the game outside of a few trailers and pieces of information. This Platinum Games developed title is set to be released in Japan in the next few months, which indicates that it should be making an appearance at E3.

Bayonetta 2 will probably be playable on the showfloor unless there has been some kind of unexpected delays.

Star Fox or Metroid

It has been years since Nintendo has released a title in either of their space-themed franchises. Both series seem to be in some kind of limbo while Nintendo is figuring out the future of their consoles. While both the Star Fox and Metroid series have a lot of hardcore fans, neither are usually considered to be console movers.

With the Wii U set to gain some traction, perhaps this is when we will finally see some of our favorite space heroes.

Nintendo has a lot to prove during 2014’s E3. Their Wii U console is in a make or break scenario and a strong showing could be just what Nintendo needs to turn around their fortunes.

What do you expect to see at Nintendo’s E3 events? A new Retro Studios game? A new IP? Let us know in the comments.
