Hyrule Warriors: Legends, for Nintendo 3DS, is days away from being in our hands. Releasing on March 25th, there are a number of factors to look forward to in the unique hack-and-slash spinoff. With sneak peek content that has been released over the past few months, both The Legend of Zelda and Dynasty Warriors fans look forward to what’s soon to come. If you are intentionally avoiding spoilers, we recommend you stop reading now.

DLC Packs: Four DLC packs will be released for Hyrule Warriors: Legends and will release during different times of the year. You can purchase the packs separately or all at once with the “Legends of Hyrule Pack Season Pass.”All DLC packs will include at least fifteen My Fairy costume pieces. The first to release will be the “Master Wind Waker Pack” later this spring. The “Link’s Awakening Pack” will release during the summer, “Phantom Hourglass & Spirit Tracks Pack” in the fall, and “A Link Between Worlds Pack” in the winter. The last three DLC packs will be bringing fans four new playable characters. You can find more details on the Nintendo UK site.

Seasonal Passes: Seasonal passes will work similarly to those in Super Smash Bros; Seasonal passes and DLC will be available on both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems. The “Legend of Hyrule Pack Season Pass” will consist of three different varieties. The “Nintendo 3DS Only Season Pass” and the “Nintendo 3DS & Wii U Season Pass” will launch this Friday with the game while the “Wii U Only Season Pass” will be available sometime this summer.

Playable Characters: There will be five new warriors in Hyrule Warriors: Legends including Linkle, the King of Lions, Tetra, Toon Link, and Skull Kid. Why Skull Kid was released way after Tingle and Young Link is still bizarre to me, but what can you do? Medli will also be joining the Hyrule Warriors crew when you purchase any DLC pack or seasonal pass. She will be available for download when the “Master Wind Waker Pack” releases.

According to the Nintendo UK site, a new character will be playable in the “Link’s Awakening Pack” and the “Phantom Hourglass & Spirit Tracks Pack” while two new playable characters will be available in the “A Link Between Worlds Pack.” New skins are also confirmed for the existing playable characters in Hyrule Warriors. This includes a rainbow Ghirahim, Twilight-esque Ganondorf, green-haired Lana, and more. My guess is that Marin, Linebeck, Ravio, and Yuga will be the new warriors coming to the Hyrule Warriors games. (However, I will always be rooting for Groose.)

Giant Bosses: The Helmaroc King and Phantom Ganon, both from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, will be new giant bosses featured in Hyrule Warriors: Legends. You will defeat the Helmaroc King in the same way you do in his original game: bash his head with the hammer while his beak is stuck in the ground. The hammer will be a new item joining the bombs, boomerang, etc. To beat Phantom Ganon, you will play the classic tennis match with the ball of light he throws at you. You can then hit him with whatever weapon you are using while he is on the ground.

My Fairy System: The new My Fairy system will be exclusive to Hyrule Warriors: Legends for the 3DS. You can find fairies of different elements by exploring pots in-game. You can bring fairies to your games to help you in-battle. Like playable characters and weapons, the fairies will be of different elements and are recommended in certain games. You will be able to level them up and customize them with character-inspired clothing or general costumes and hairstyles. Fans of character customization are sure to have a blast with this feature.
