It looks as though we will have to wait until the next festive season for the new addition to the Zelda series. However, there are still numerous video games available this year that aim to provide just as much excitement, exhilaration and entertainment.

The thing which makes Nintendo Wii, Xbox One, PS4 and PC games such good presents to give is that they can be enjoyed and played the whole year round, not just on the big day. What’s more, if you’re giving a game to a relative, there is a good chance you’ll be able to play it too!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

For any family members or close friends that aren’t aware of Zelda’s magnificence, a copy of Skyward Sword is the perfect present. Designed especially for the Wii, Skyward Sword provides the most intuitive gameplay of any version to date thanks to Motion Plus.

From swinging your sword and solving puzzles to exploring forests, volcanoes and deserts, this remains a landmark title for Zelda fans but will also bring enjoyment to scores of other gamers too.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

This ever-popular franchise remains one of the video game world’s biggest success stories and it is easy to see why. In this latest version, you’ll find yourself in a well-researched and carefully crafted vision of the future where technological progress and military practices have come together to create a rather formidable force.

With advanced player movement, new types of armour and hi-tech weaponry, you are well equipped to deal with such a revolutionary battleground.

Football Manager 2015

This particular game might feel less intimidating than an action-packed shoot ’em up, but it is equally as gripping and engrossing. Take charge of your favourite club, pick the team and change the tactics with the hope of propelling them to success.

The latest version features more than 2,000 new motion captured animations, improved player models and ball physics, an updated feel to the user interface and personalities that replicate today’s biggest football stars.

The Sims 4

By now, every gamer will be familiar with the Sims, but the latest game in the series features a number of new and novel features. Create unique personalities with different emotions and distinct appearances, who have the ability to provide countless captivating stories.

When it comes to designing and constructing your home, the room-based build mode enables you create incredible properties alongside neighbours that are just as weird and wacky as your own Sims. Everybody loves to play the Sims, so this will make a great gift for if you’re unsure.

All you need to do now is wait until next Christmas to spread the Zelda cheer.
