A Link Between Worlds Info From IGN Interview With Aonuma

IGN and Zelda producer, Eiji Aonuma recently got together for a quick interview regarding A Link Between Worlds. In this interview, while nothing new was really brought to the table, there were a couple of points of interest worth expanding upon.

After E3 the art style used in the game’s official art took a notable change in direction. Aonuma explains that this choice was made to make the art reflect Link’s presence in the game. With A Link to the Past Nintendo used a mature older style of art. The SNES was unable to portray Link in such an advanced way, but Nintendo did not see this as a problem at the time. Now that the 3DS is capable of showing much more detail, Nintendo felt it was time to make the official art style match the game’s graphics more accurately.

While discussing the art style of the game Eiji Aonuma referenced cinematic scenes during the game. While this is not too shocking, it is nice to hear that there will be cutscenes throughout to help drive the game’s story.

The most interesting part of this interview was a discussion on the bracelet that Link is seen wearing in the game’s official art. While he kept his explanations vague, Aonuma did state that this is an item that Link gets near the beginning of the game. He went on to note that perhaps this item is responsible for Link’s ability to turn himself into a picture on the walls.
