The original Legend of Zelda titles thrust gamers into the quest instantly from the second the game launched. There were no tutorials, directions, or training grounds. It was this concept which enabled the Zelda series to grow with the reputation of being a rewarding, challenging, and puzzling series. Unfortunately, and to the dismay of many, the Zelda series sort of lost its focus in this concept with the latest entries to the series. Both Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword had extensive training segments that felt overly drawn out and cumbersome. Completing the training grounds of these games could take upwards of an hour before getting started with the actual quest of the game.
The latest reports for A Link Between Worlds seems to indicate that the game is going back to the roots with this concept. Kotaku has reported that it takes a mere 5 minutes from the start of gameplay until Link enters the game’s first dungeon. Now that is more like it!
