Nintendo unleashed a fury of new information regarding the upcoming A Link Between Worlds. A new trailer, new art, new items, plot information, and more was all revealed during today’s presentation at the New York Comic Convention.

First of all, the new trailer can be seen here

In this trailer we see several things of importance. First off there is a new world called Lorule. This world is seemingly a reflection of Hyrule that appears to possibly be underground in some form. Lorule is stated to have been a beautiful kingdom once and is need of a hero. Much like Hyrule, there is a princess, named Hilda. Hilda looks very similar to Zelda, but is shown wearing the upside down Triforce icon.

The trailer also shows the game’s villain, named Yuga. Yuga has the ability to turn himself, and others, into paintings. Link and Yuga appears to be the only two who can shift into a painting at their discretion. This ability seems to be controlled by the bracelet that Link is wearing.

A few interesting things seen in the trailer is the possible inclusion of Impa, the return of the 3 pendents from A Link to the Past, and definite connections to the game’s prequel through the chime and logo introduction.

Nintendo also revealed a few more details including:

  • Rupees are more common and will play a larger role in the game
  • There is a new item called ‘Maimai’ which allows Link to upgrade his items
  • Upgraded Bow can shoot 3 arrows at once
  • Smaller dungeons exist with hidden non-vital treasures
  • Some kind of connection to Majora’s Mask
